Each piece is a meditation, a collaboration between intuition, water's will, and nature's harmony
Amethyst Shimmer blends traditional Battal with a contemporary Dalgali style. The technique utilized in this artwork creates a three-dimensional pattern on a flat surface. Light catches the crest of each wave while shadows linger in the depths, creating a three-dimensional sea of purple waves beneath a sky of crackling electric blue.
The deep represents a very traditional Battal style with addition of a modern Neftli substance to create the unique cellular pattern you see above. This work requires a gentle hand and a careful balance between the strikes of Battal on water and the ensuing expansion of the Neft. Too much neft, and the surface loses its rhythm; too little, and the colors cannot breathe. When done correctly, the pigments expand and separate on the surface, forming a scene of celestial constellations or the cellular world under a microscope.
"Currents" carries the essence of the şal motif, where every wave finds its counterpoint and each color answers another. It is a dance of contrasts, a meeting of opposites that moves in harmony. Bold tones of orange and blue flow into one another, their contrast softened by quiet neutrals that steady the composition. The colors move like silk across water, folding and unfolding in rhythmic motion. With each subtle curve, balance reveals itself. For this art piece, colors coexist. Too much of one color diminishes the whole and depletes the richness of diversity.
Rooted in the traditional zig-zagging Gel-Git Ebru and the wavy motion of the Dalga technique, "A Sea of Colors and Motion" captures the rippling waves of color as they rise and fall across the surface. A curtain call to a flourishing dance of colors and motion.
One of the most timeless forms of Tarakli Ebru, this pattern can be found in 18th-century English bookbindings to modern-day decor. Created by shaping comb-like motifs with a stylus (biz) instead of a fixed comb, it carries a mesmerising rhythm.
